Staton Public Library
Between the Pages
Stayton Public Library, October 2021
Happy Autumn! Whether or not you are happy for the rain or want to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte, I think we can all agree that autumn is the perfect time to curl up with a good book. We have book lists below that will help you find some books to provide a spooky atmosphere and send chills up your spine. We also have a pumpkin painting contest happening this month, some fun take and make activities, and more!

In the picture above, you can see our "River of Fish" that is set up in front of the Library. Inspired by the book, Only One You by Linda Kranz, the rocks in the River of Fish display were painted by participants in this year’s summer reading program. Please note: Unlike many other painted rock projects, these fish stay onsite. Please leave them to “swim” with their friends.

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15 to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic Americans. To celebrate we've created book lists for adults, teens, and children that explore and celebrate those diverse experiences and voices.

Make sure you come to the Library in October to see the tiny art from all ages on display and vote on your favorite pumpkins.

In honor of the 16th annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week, October 17-23, 2021, the Stayton Public Library wants to give our Friends group a special thank you for all they do to make our Library and community so much better.

Stayton Friends of the Library raise money through their book sales, Used Book Store, monetary donations, and membership dues which enable our Library to move from good to great -- providing the resources for additional programming, much-needed equipment, support for our all-ages summer reading programs, and special events throughout the year. The work of the Friends highlights that our Library is the cornerstone of the community providing opportunities for all to engage in the joy of life-long learning and connect with the thoughts and ideas of others from ages past to the present.

The Friends’ gift of their time and commitment to the Stayton Public Library sets an example for all in how volunteerism leads to positive civic engagement and the betterment of our community. If you would like to find out how to help with the Friends either through becoming a member or through monetary donations, check out their website in the link below.
