Parachutes at Storytime in the Stayton Community Garden
Between the Pages
Stayton Public Library, May 2022
The wild Oregon spring has been in full force, flowers are blooming, and we have been busy just like bees! Besides our regular Storytimes, circulation, creating take and make kits for all ages, and adding to our exciting Library of Things, we have been working hard behind the scenes planning for our Summer Reading Programs!

Excitement and fun await those who journey to the Stayton Public Library and participate in the summer reading program, Read Beyond the Beaten Path. We will have programs for kids, teens, and adults, each similar, but with their own unique pieces. Besides fostering reading as a regular activity, we will also have some fun events and programs. Registration begins online or in-person on June 21st, follow Stayton Public Library online at staytonlibrary.org for more information!

See you at the Library!

May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, a time when we join in paying tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success.

We've created booklists for adult, teen, and children's books that feature Asian and Pacific American voices and stories.

New Spanish Books! Nuevos libros en español!
Stayton Public Library has new Spanish language materials! Thanks to two grants the Stayton Public Library has been able to add $4000 worth of Spanish language materials to our collection for children and adults.

Stayton Public Library was selected to participate in this year’s Libros for Oregon cohort which brings Spanish language materials purchased directly from the Guadalajara Book Fair to Oregon Libraries. In addition, the Library received an ARPA grant facilitated through the State Library of Oregon to purchase books in Spanish and translate Library forms and marketing materials.

This is in part a result of a greater effort to update our existing aging Spanish collection and make sure that we are serving the entire community of Stayton with current and relevant materials. In addition, we will be featuring two bilingual performers this summer.
